Disguising scars with Medical Tattooing

Breast Augmentation. Breast Enlargement. Breast Uplift. ‘Boob Job’.

These are common place words within our society today with thousands of women opting for this cosmetic procedure to enhance their natural breasts in some way every year.

Although they undertake such procedures having had explained to them the risks of surgery and the side effects that come with it, many women are left very unhappy with the scarring that is left behind as a result from surgery.

It is an inevitable fact that if you undergo surgery, and your skin is being physically cut in some way, you will be left with a scar. This information is given throughout the entire consultation process for any cosmetic procedure, yet the reality of the scarring once the surgery has been completed for many is a huge shock and leaves them feeling disappointed and unhappy with the final results.

So, what is the next step post surgery? Are the scars you are left with what you have to live with? Can they be improved in any way? Or will they get worse?!

This is where Medical Tattooing comes in, in particular Scar Camouflage.

Caron Vetter has been carrying out Medical Tattooing for over 20 years and was one of the very first to provide this treatment in the UK after training in America in 1993. After building herself a successful private clinic she now teaches medical tattooing to nurses throughout the UK, both privately and within the NHS.

Caron’s experience has enabled her to work with many variations of scars over the years and she has crafted her technique to enable her to achieve the best results possible for scar camouflage.

So what IS scar camouflage?

  • Scarring placed around the areola post surgery can be camouflaged to match the surrounding skin tissue to lessen its appearance in the skin.
  • Using pigments the scar is blended into the areola, creating the illusion of no scarring but just an areola.

This treatment is very straightforward and can be completed in 1-2 procedures. Below demonstrates just how this procedure can enhance the results from any breast surgery procedure and help to camouflage the scars left behind.

Befroe1Before – white scarring can be seen around both Areolas.

After1
After – Taken IMMEDIATELY after treatment, the treatment area is still a little inflamed and dark. This will settle down and the white scarring as seen before will now match the areola skin tone and will be successfully camouflaged.

Before and Immediately After – the redness will reduce and an even areola with no scarring will remain.
